In April 2006, the General Conference World Youth Advisory body (World Youth Advisory) issued a statement regarding GYC. Although the document stated some positive things about GYC, we believe that it was based on misunderstandings regarding GYC's mission, structure, organization and goals.

One month after the issue of the World Youth Advisory document, Elder Baraka Muganda, the Youth Director of our World Church requested the GYC leadership to prepare a statement clarifying any misinformation. On May 3, 2006 the following "GYC Statement of Clarification" was submitted to Elder Muganda for distribution to youth directors and church leaders who have received the World Youth Advisory document.

As you read this "GYC Statement of Clarification," you will be thrilled about how GYC got started, what it is all about, why it is attracting thousands of young people, and how it relates to the organized church and overseas youth movements. We also believe that this "GYC Statement of Clarification" will clarify any misconceptions and misinformation about GYC.
