Global Youth Day - March 17, 2018

What is it?

An opportunity for you to do outreach anywhere near you, as part of a larger effort taking place around the world.

Global Youth Day (GYD) is an annual day of service encouraging young people to "be the sermon." The emphasis of this year's GYD is food and water drives. You can find more information here. While we are supporting that specific initiative, we also encourage participants to incorporate other evangelistic elements such as GLOW distribution, Bible study offers, etc. into the activities.

Whichever outreach activity you choose, we encourage you to get involved!

Why are we doing this?

Many of us attend GYC year after year and attend seminars and training sessions and participate in the yearly outreach day, but fail to be involved in our local churches. The reason we host GYC is to deepen our personal experience with God and be better equipped to serve at home. The missions department was also specifically formed to provide resources and opportunities for young people to participate in evangelism throughout the year. This is an opportunity for you to fulfill the mission of GYC and the world church:

The lesson of Christ in ... scripture is to be received and believed and acted upon in living faith. Let young men, and women, and children go to work in the name of Jesus. Let them unite together upon some plan and order of action. Cannot you form a band of workers, and have set times to pray together and ask the Lord to give you his grace, and put forth united action? The Lord will help those who will use their God-intrusted capabilities to his name's glory. {YI, August 9, 1894 par. 3}
